Golf Course Superintendent
Maintenance Bldg – 1500 N. Madison
Our Golf Course Superintendent, Tim Nielsen is a “Class A” member of the
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Lucrative Class A status
is earned through a combination of formal education, experience, continuing
education, and passing the GCSAA IPM Exam. Class A membership
demonstrates personal commitment to lifelong learning, environmental
stewardship, and elevating golf course management. We are honored to have
Tim leading our experienced grounds crew here at Creekmoor.
Tim graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of
Science degree in horticulture and turfgrass management. His career began
when he assisted in the construction of Drumm Farm Golf Club in
Independence, Missouri. Once the construction of Drumm Farm was
complete, he became the assistant superintendent for grow-in and golf
course maintenance. Soon after he was promoted to golf course
superintendent until he took over his current role at Creekmoor in 2011.
He has served on the board of directors of the Heart of America Golf Course
Superintendents Association for many years including serving as the
association’s president twice. In his career as a golf course superintendent,
Tim has devoted extensive time and effort in promoting the game of golf and
the art of the greens-keeping and for those efforts he was awarded the
prestigious Chester H. Mendenhall award by the HAGCSA in 2015.
Tim decided upon a career in golf course maintenance because of his passion
for the game of golf. Of the many notable golf courses he’s had the privilege
of experiencing, a few stick out to him as the best he ever played. He enjoyed
the pristine conditioning and hospitality of Sage Valley in Augusta, GA and
the formidable test of Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina. But his overall favorite
golf experiences happen at Ballyneal in Holyoke, CO. He describes Ballyneal
“as pure as golf could possibly be”.
His favorite PGA golfers are Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rory McElroy and
Dustin Johnson, but he thinks Tiger Woods is still the most enjoyable. Of
course, to Tim the most enjoyable part of watching professional golf isn’t
about the golfers. He truly loves learning about the golf course itself,
examining the architecture, the conditioning and seeing how those aspects
impact the way the golfers attack the course.
PGA Head Golf Professional
This is Head Golf Pro Joe Taylor’s fifth season at The Golf Club at Creekmoor, after
spending over 22 years at upscale facilities such as Loch Lloyd in Missouri,
Minnesota’s North Oaks Golf Club, Prestwick and The Minikahda Club, and Arizona’s
Estancia Club and Red Mountain Ranch Country Club.
He is currently the Head Golf Coach at The Barstow School in Kansas City for both
the Boys and Girls Programs. Joe inherited a program that had never seen much
success; under his tenure they have won two Missouri Class 2 Team State
Championships and he has coached multiple players to All-District and All-State
accolades. With over two decades of teaching experience, Joe enjoys helping golfers
of all levels.
His favorite golf experience was playing Teeth of the Dog at the Casa deCampo
resort in the Dominican Republic.
Joe’s favorite aspect of being a golf pro is the daily interaction with so many different
people. He enjoys Creekmoor’s course for the variety of holes and not having the
same shot over and over again. When he isn’t on the course, you can find him
binge-watching movies and spending time with family.

Jennifer came to dinner at Tavern on the Moor one evening back in 2019 and accidentally left with a job. Starting out as a bartender one day a week, she quickly became the lead daytime bartender.
She now manages all of our social media marketing in addition to bartending and has recently started assisting the golf shop with their apparel buying and merchandising.
Although Jennifer has never actually played a round of golf, she loves riding with her husband in the cart while he plays while drinking John Dalys and playing 80s music. She enjoys watching Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rory McElroy, and has recently started following the entertaining Harry Higgs.
When Jennifer isn't working, she enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. She also enjoys sleep but her two children don't think she needs it.
